Christantus Uche Sparks Comfortable Palace Victory at Shelbourne.
Despite entering their first-ever continental campaign, Crystal Palace are adapting at a rapid pace. Without key figures like forward Jean-Philippe Mateta and defender Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles left Dublin with a commanding result that all but guarantees them a place in the Conference League qualifying rounds.
Another three points in their next fixture against Finnish KuPS should be sufficient to seal direct passage to the last 16, especially following a previous stumble against Strasbourg.
Fringe Players Grasp the Opportunity
This occasion provided a chance for some of Palace's fringe players to impress. Christantus Uche, making only his second start since joining on loan from Getafe, opened the scoring with a clinical finish. Striker Eddie Nketiah contributed a another, scoring for the second game in succession.
The Shelbourne side that had concluded their league season proved outmatched even for a largely rotated Palace outfit. The visitors were further weakened by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are out with knee problems.

Midfielder Adam Wharton went close soon after, fizzing a long-range shot over the bar. Nketiah subsequently claimed for a penalty after racing into the box, but the referee dismissed the protests.
The formerArsenal striker didn't need to wait long to find his goal, prodding home from close range after Uche's shot had struck the post.
The home side were hanging on for dear life. Defender Kameron Ledwidge was fortunate to escape a booking for two robust challenges on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards struck the woodwork with a powerful header from a corner.

The contest was effectively over eight minutes before half-time. Yeremy Pino weaved past some comically weak challenges before coolly dispatching a shot past keeper Wessel Speel to extend the lead to 3-0.
After the break, coach Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to rest key players like Kamada and Wharton. Substitute Romain Esse almost scoring his first touch, but saw his effort blocked.
Esse was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one shot crash off each posts before being clasped on the line. Uche also blazed a sitter of a chance, showing there is still room for improvement in his game.
The only worry for Palace was a late knock to Justin Devenny, who was forced off. This paved the way for 17-year-old striker Benji Casey to earn his first-team debut, capping an otherwise perfect evening for the traveling side.
