Lando Norris Leads Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice
Lando Norris has outscored his teammate at each of the past five grands prix.
The McLaren driver just pipped fellow driver and title rival the Australian for the fastest time in the dying seconds of practice at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
Norris, who took the points lead from Piastri by just one point after taking the win in Mexico City a fortnight back, topped the Australian by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Before then, Oscar Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair during the running before the sprint shootout set to begin at 6:30 PM GMT.
The Red Bull star, the sole remaining contender in the points battle, lying with a 36-point deficit Norris, was classified in P17 as his team opted for a different programme.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the only driver to have an incident, if briefly, when he lost control at Turn Four soon after starting.
Tsunoda slid over the curbs on exit before sliding over the escape zone, and was lucky to get away with just a minor contact of the barrier.
Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton also lost it, at the conclusion of the session, turning around through the high-speed corner leading to the last turn on to the start-finish straight.
Hamilton ended the session in P19, one place behind teammate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren drivers were well clear of the other competitors, with the German's car third fastest, 0.619secs behind Piastri's best.
Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso was fourth fastest, with Sauber's Bortoleto fifth from the Mercedes of Russell and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
